Another day, another event...
14th of July After a late night last night, we were woken up at 9:30am by Yvonne, hurrying us up like our mum's to get ready to go to the Ghibli museum! 2 and a half hours later we arrived at the magnificently designed museum to observe various displays showcasing the Ghibli studio's movie's animation cells, drawings, paintings, storyboards etc etc etc. The museum looked like something out of one of their movies. A while later, we dropped by the museum cinema to watch a short movie. Though it was in Japanese and none of us really understood any of it, it was a very interesting movie about a boy who grew a planet from a small magical stone.
After 2 hours of wandering the halls of the Ghibli museum and a couple of souvenir shopping bags extra, we headed back to Shibuya to meet up with Yvonne to have "lunch" in Tsukiji. It's basically like the fish markets back in sydney, but because it was late in the afternoon, there wasnt much to see besides the delivery trucks doing their rounds. We stopped by a sushi restaurant, though the cheap lunch menu wasn't available we still had a fine selection of sushi to choose from and eat. It was probably the best sushi i've ever had, the fish just melted in my mouth.
A long stroll followed to the central district of Shibaji where we caught an elevator to the very top of one of the office blocks to admire the sunset and the city view. This time for free!
After stopping home for a brief shoer. we headed back out to meet up with one Yvonne's friend to eat dinner in Shibuya. They showed us to to a nice medium sized restaurant to have the best ramen I've ever had and for a reasonable price as well. Being a friday night, the city of Shibuya was a hustling and bustling with business men and women, school kids, a tonne of foreigners and drunks. We decided to showcase some of our talent at one of the Karaoke buildings. If you take greenwood, make 7 copies of it and stack them on top of each other you'll get a place similar to Greenwood. Add to that a vast collection of songs, free drinks and nice comfy couches and you have a nice way to the end the night. For your information as well, many people believe you need alcohol to get into the karaoke mood, if you want tim to sing, give him a microphone and play Frank Sinatra and you will be thoroughly entertained by his singing antics without having to spend a single cent on alcohol!
After finishing up at the Karaoke centre, it was time to head back home on the last train being at 12:30. We got a taste of peak hour traffic on the trains. Though not to the extent as daytime peak hour, it still was pretty squishy. Stopping by the local Lawson's for ice cream was called for as well before we headed back home for a good night's rest.
